Ways To Volunteer...

There are so many different ways you can help as a Literacy Volunteer, and all are incredibly rewarding experiences.

No special qualifications (besides our free trainings) are required to become a Literacy Volunteer. You don't have to speak another language! Your fluency in English is all that is needed.

ESOL Tutoring

Go through training
Help in Computer Lab
Tutor one-on-one or in small groups
Lead a drop-in Conversation Group

Basic Literacy One-on-One Tutoring

Go through training
Get paired up with a learner to work one-on-one

Instructional Aide

Assist with Adult Education classes, etc.

Lead Tutor

Coordinate a local satellite center.

Special Event Volunteer

One-time or short commitments to fundraising (like Scrabble Challenge) or assessments

LVEC Board Member

Create and direct programs to serve the need of the community

Support the training of a strong volunteer team with state-of-the-art materials and resources
